Windows Opening Apps You Never Clicked. Is this correct?

Windows keeps opening apps I never clicked, and it happens randomly while I am working or even when I am away from the keyboard. This is frustrating and possibly a security concern, so I need help figuring out why these apps launch on their own and how to stop them.
