Windows Defender Blocking a Legitimate App Without Asking
I have a legitimate application that I use regularly, but Windows 11 Defender keeps blocking it without any warning or prompt. This automatic blocking occurs even though the app is safe and trusted, which disrupts my workflow and prevents me from using the program effectively. I want to understand how to prevent Defender from blocking this app automatically and ensure it runs smoothly without constant false positives. Any advice on how to whitelist or configure Defender settings to stop blocking this legitimate software would be greatly appreciated.

Go to "Virus & threat protection" and toggle off "Microsoft Defender SmartScreen" to disable it.

Confirm that your app or folder appears in the list of exclusions.
Hi, first check Windows Security > Protection history to see exactly which Defender component blocked it. If you fully trust the app, verify the publisher/hash first, then allow it from Protection history or add a narrow exclusion for that app path only. I would also submit it to Microsoft as a false positive so it can be corrected properly.
