Windows 11 Surface Book 3 – strange battery levels display
I start working with Windows 11 on Microsoft Surface Book 3. Microsoft introduced a new battery history in System - Power & Battery. This displays the battery levels in a strange way.
The battery is shown with 49% but the graph on the right side display 100% at the current position.
This look strange to me and is not the information I would like to see.
In my case, the percentage is 100% before 6am and after 3pm. Only in the time between 6 am and 3 pm the graph is correct and reflects the real battery level. I overlay the real battery level of the last 24 hours to compare:
The hint I get is the battery symbols in the top. They indicate, that "Multiple batteries connected" or "Single battery connected".
In my case, in the last 24 hour the "Surface Book 3" was always in "Desktop Mode" and both batteries are connected.
Why the battery log see only one battery instead of both batteries. I never expect such an impact on Microsoft native device.

- Falco BethkeCopper ContributorI have exactly the same problem with Book 3 and Win11.
for me it seem like glitch and I can workaround by disconnecting screen and back.
But I would expect to see that fixed after many month. - Reza_AmeriSilver ContributorTry run Windows Update and download and install all updates.
Try restart your PC and see if the problem persist?
Try use your device on battery for a while and see if there is any change.
If not, open start and search for feedback and open the Feedback Hub app and report this issue.- MaxMoMucCopper ContributorThanks for the hints. I installed the available updates. There were only two 2022-02 Cumulative Update KB5010386 and KB5009469 missing.
But I found 3 optional updates which are not offered by the normal update:
- Surface - Firmware - 13.101.140.0
- Surface - Firmware -13.0.1889.2
- Intel - System - 2120.100.0.1085
In Internet, I found the information, that they are part of the new February 02 release for Surface Book 3. Now I have to observe System > Power & battery for a while.- Reza_AmeriSilver ContributorGreat, try monitor it and in case problem persist, make sure report it using the Feedback Hub app.
