Windows 11 Printer Issue - DYMO LW450 DUO is not installing correctly/entirely
Looks like Microsoft have finally released at fix with the latest 2023-05 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5026446), which includes the following Highlight:
This update addresses a multi-function label printer issue. It affects the installation of some of them.
Tested on my PC, and now both the label and tape printing both work with my Dymo LW 450 Duo (I use the older Dymo Label v8 software as I prefer it to the new Dymo Connect).

Finally!!!!
After installation of KB5026446 and reboot, everything works as how it should be 🙂

We have both the old duo and the new duo 450, and the old uses the old software and the new 450 uses the software called dymo connect. Neither work with the opposite software.

Hi, I'm afraid I have never been able to get on with the more recent Dymo Connect software and favour the 'old' LabelWriter editions - 8.7.4 works fine. There is also an older variant - 8.5.4 which I've seen other people mention as their preferred option. It is on the Dymo website but you have to hunt a bit (https://www.dymo.com/support?cfid=dymo-compatibility-chart). (Use the drop-down, Software Select | DYMO Label Software | Operating System | Win 11 then the 2 versions to choose from). The only issue I've noticed lately is that it is no longer accessing the Outlook Address Book in the same way as of old - but the Outlook plug-in works fine and you can print direct from Outlook (individual address labels or a batch) instead.
For all other labels it works as it's always done within DYMO Label.
Best regards,
Kevin

I've done an upgrade from Windows 10 to 11 (Version: 23H2) (new mobo etc) and the USB hub shows the LabelWriter Duo and Tape but the latest Dymo software will only show a "virtual" printer and that no printer is actually connected. Can anyone help me here?! Thanks.
- larrylagNov 13, 2023Copper ContributorI know this doesn't address ur problem directly but may be worth giving it a try. I've tried this when I have had issues getting both printers to work on my win 11. I have a Duo 400 not a 450. Try it with printer on and connected to USB port. Preferably USB 2.
Windows key + R and type in services.msc and press Enter
Find “Print Spooler” Right-click on it and select “Restart”
If it doesn't work try it with the printer disconnected. - cristina1600Nov 13, 2023Copper Contributor
DRonski Windows11 was just installed on my laptop. The DYMO printer app will open and then close. I uninstalled and reinstalled the label printer app.
- I tried installing https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB5026446 suggested by SchuelerJB but got the same pop-up that Horrgakx1530 mentioned "This update is not applicable to your computer"
- I tried a different USB port as suggested, but the app opens and immediately closes as before
DavidR_DYMO What other protips are out there?

Yes I had to change USB ports, mine was working ok after the last fix and then suddenly my "Tape" printer disappeared. I tried reinstalling everything and still nothing, switched my USB ports and both Printers showed. They are both showing up when I got to start a new label at the top but only the Label Printer shows at the bottom of the screen, when not in the creating a new label view.

SchuelerJB Thanks, I did that (filename: windows11.0-kb5026446-x64_e264756c2d8b4a37b6319c7bc36bb72001b38084.msu) but it said "This update is not applicable to your computer", which I assume means it's already installed. This would make sense because when I got the new computer the first thing I did was update everything and the 22H2 update was quite a large one.

MichekC thanks for the reply. I actually upgraded my PC (well, a complete replacement actually) so everything is fresh.
I have not tried a different USB port, yiu think that might make a difference?

Horrgakx1530 just the 22H2 update is not enough. You have to install the https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB5026446 manually.

Horrgakx1530 you need to uninstall and remove all printers (+ print management) then reinstall the app which will reinstall the drivers.
if still not workin try to change the drivers port USB1/2/3.

SchuelerJB I have the 22H2 update for Win11 and my Dymo printers are NOT working. The tape works but the "virtual" label printer says it's offline. Any idea why mine isn't working and others are?
