Windows 11 Memory Compression

I am currently running Windows 11 Professional version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3593).

I am looking at Task Manager, Memory to see the following:

As you can see, my workstation has 192GB of total RAM.  Only 20GB is in use with plenty available.  I am noticing that Windows has decided to compress memory even though I have plenty available.  On-the-fly compression has a cost.  Why would Windows randomly decide to waste processing time compressing when it is absolutely unnecessary?

Disable startup programs. Some programs may be set to launch automatically when you start your computer. Disabling these programs can help free up memory. To do this, press the Windows key + R, type "msconfig" and press Enter. In the Startup tab, uncheck any programs that you don't need to start automatically.

      Nobel_BaynesNo.

Do you understand that I have 192GB  total memory?  Why would I care if start-up program are using a small percentage of it?

Just like I don't care about Microsoft creating a useless memory compression feature that I quickly disabled.
