Windows 11 keyboard setting

Hi all. I have an installation with Windows 11. Since I do a lot of writing in Spanish I got a Spanish layout keyboard. I also added the corresponding keyboard and now I have a "menu" on the task bar that lets me choose. By default, I have set the default to he Spanish language keyboard.

This works fine, except that when I choose the Spanish layout keyboard, my entire Windows starts to change to Spanish. I want to keep Windows in English while using the Spanish language keyboard.

What do I need to do for this to happen? Thanks! Salvador

  • 1. Restart your computer
Temporary faults can usually be solved by restarting
    2. Check the physical connection
Wired keyboard: Replace the USB port to test
Wireless keyboard: Replace the batteries/re-pair the Bluetooth device needs to be deleted and then reconnected
    3. Keystrokes are unresponsive/misbehaved
    Update the driver:
Device Manager > Keyboard > Right-click Device > Update Driver
Uninstall the driver (reinstall it automatically):
Same as above path > Right-click Device > Uninstall the device > Reboot
    4. Switch default input method:
Win + Space Try other input method
    5. Remove conflicting input method:
Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region > Remove unused input method
    6. Shortcut key not working
    Reset keyboard settings:
Settings > Device > Input > Advanced Keyboard Settings > Restore Defaults
    7. Turn off Filter Key:
Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard > Turn off "Filter Key "
    8. System file check
    Administrator CMD run:
    cmd
    sfc /scannow
    Test after reboot
    9. New user test
Settings > Accounts > Family and other users > Add new user
Login to new account to check for problems

Hi William. First off, thank you for taking the time to compile such a thorough list of suggestions. As much as this list contains useful information, it does not address my issue, at all. I have the two languages configured, and both work correctly. My hardware is also working correctly, and have no issues with the file system.

My problem is that when I switch over to the keyboard Spanish layout, Windows starts to convert to the Spanish language. I want to isolate the Windows language from the keyboard layout. Is that at all possible? Thanks! Saga
