Windows 11 and Expression Web 4

Not sure if this is relevant but here goes - I think when Windows 11 updates, it places incompatible software on my puter. Always something doesn't work right after an update. You can pause updates for a few days but it will install whether you want it or not.

Right now I cannot access my website to work on it. Because I use Microsoft Expression Web 4 and it will not stay on a page.

I click Ex 4 to load it, and the Index page appears for about 8 seconds, then boots itself right off to the blank load page again. I reinstalled Expression Web 4, to no avail, and scanned everything I could.

I find something corrupted after any Windows 11 update.

I am trying to find whatever is dumping my webpage but there is no time to analyze what's wrong.

Using HP laptop with tons of space and RAM. 1 year old.

Thanks Hope this is okay here. Any advice will help.

I am having the same problem, but just with the .htm files in one folder on my site. Have you changed to another website creator program? If so, which one did you choose, and how easy was it to change your site over to it? I'm looking for a program that I can use on my computer and then upload the changes to the server.

If anyone has done this, I would appreciate information and advice.

    Thanks,

    Nancy

It’s understandable that Windows updates occasionally cause compatibility issues with older software like Expression Web 4, especially if updates modify system components or security settings that impact how such programs function.

Since updates can cause issues, consider:

Going to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options.

Temporarily pause updates for 7-10 days.

Or, set Active Hours to when you're working on your site to prevent auto-reboots.

Compatibility mode (Windows 7) + administrator privileges, or switch to a modern editor.
