Window 11 Keeps Asking For My PIN Even After I've Told It Not To
I had my computer set to 'Never ask for PIN' and it was doing just fine until I restarted it and it installed some updates. Now I am back to it asking for my PIN every time it wakes from sleep. I SO do not need this! I live alone and no one else is able to touch my computer. I am the administrator and only user for the computer.
I have opened the netplwiz file, and unchecked the box that says a user must sign in, but the problem persists.
Recently, I also gave Google access to my Microsoft files, and I am wondering if Google is responsible for the problem. I got a popup today saying Google was asking for my PIN. This was not when I was signing into the computer after waking it up, though, but a different situation.
Please help - have tried everything I can think of!

I'm not sure if you got sorted here? but I stumbled across this as I was having the same issue. I've now found what I think was my problem. i right clicked on start setting accounts sign in options, under additional settings it asks "if you've been away , when should windows require you to sign in again?" make sure its set up never. also make sure Dynamic lock is off as well as windows hello sign-in (first 3 setting under additional setting)
I hope this helps.

Ok, I think I fixed it! I decided to not have the computer go to sleep, but since I had my screensaver set to kick in after 10 minutes, I decided maybe I should turn that off as well. When I looked at my screensaver setting, I saw the box for ON RESUME DISPLAY LOG ON SCREEN was checked! DUH!!

Who woulda thought??
- X-CoeCopper ContributorI've been having the same problem. I'll check my screensaver setting and see if that fixes it...
- Drizzybro1Brass ContributorTurn off the "Wake up with PIN" option in Windows Settings, then remove the PIN requirement in Power Settings in the Control Panel, if that doesn't work, check Group Policy and Local Security Policy, or reset the PIN. If that doesn't work, check the group policy and local security policy, or reset the PIN. lastly, if the problem persists, try restoring the system to pre-update.

I did a system restore. Didn't fix the problem. All it did was remove the most recent program I installed. 😞
ATM the only other fix I can think of is to not let the computer go into 'sleep' mode!

If I remove the PIN requirement, it asks me to sign in with my password instead. It still asks me to sign in every.bloody.time it wakes up.
I was able to find an option under power settings that says 'Change execution to allow local power shell scripts to run without signing' and have clicked tht option. Will see if that helps. Edit: no, it didn't.
Group Policy and Local Security Policy sounds like they would only apply to a work situation with multiple computers. This is my home computer - I am retired. If those options DO apply, I have no idea how to find them.

Could this be related to Lenovo's history with formerly semi-independent Hong Kong?
To CCP blatantly not meeting the terms of Hong Kong's being now part of China?
FWIW: For what it's worth, my Lenovo desktop has similar problems. I messed up and had the mistaken impression Lenovo wasn't Chinese. My bad. (sorry if that isn't PC)
