Will Windows 11 Shut Down Automatically After xxxx Minutes?

Greetings,

I recently acquired a brand-new Lenovo Windows 11 Home laptop. Unlike my previous Windows 7 laptop, which would smoothly transition into sleep mode when I closed its lid and then wake up upon reopening, this fresh Windows 11 machine seems to behave differently. When I shut the lid, it appears to enter sleep mode, but upon opening it after an extended period, I find myself having to press the Power Button to awaken it. Strangely, it seems to boot up as if it had been completely powered off, rather than resuming from sleep. It doesn't seem to maintain the sleep state properly.

Given that the Power Settings are configured to initiate Sleep mode when both plugged in and on battery power, including for actions like pressing the Power Button and closing the lid, I am puzzled by these encounters.

The preset Hibernate After setting for when the device is plugged in is currently at 180 minutes. This prompts the question: does Hibernate equate to a full shutdown, and is that what I am witnessing here?

Furthermore, I am uncertain as to whether the laptop will enter Hibernate mode automatically when the lid is closed.

Your insights on these matters are greatly appreciated.

When your laptop goes into sleep mode, it saves your current session to RAM and enters a low-power state. This allows for a quick resume, but it still requires a small amount of power. When you reopen the lid, it should wake up from sleep without needing to press the power button.

When your laptop enters sleep mode, it saves the current session in memory and reduces power consumption by turning off most components (like the display) while keeping the session active in RAM. This allows for a quick resume when you open the lid or press the power button.
Normally, a laptop in sleep mode should wake up instantly when the lid is opened (depending on settings) or the power button is pressed.

    This is not expected behavior.
I advise you to run Windows Update and download and install all updates and see if the problem persists?

    1.Open Task Scheduler:
Press Win + S, type "Task Scheduler," and press Enter.
    2.Create a new task:
In the right pane, click on "Create Basic Task."
    3.Follow the wizard:
Name your task and provide a description.
Set the trigger to "Daily," and configure the time when you want it to start.
4.Set the action to shut down:
Choose "Start a program" as the action.
    For "Program/script," type shutdown.
For "Add arguments (optional)," type /s.
