Who keeps changing my default browser back after every single update?
After every system update, my default browser changes back to another browser, even though I have already selected the one I prefer. Why does this keep happening, and how can I stop updates or system settings from changing my default browser without my permission? I'd appreciate steps to keep my choice permanently.

First check whether the default has actually changed, or whether only certain Windows links open in another browser. Some Windows features use Edge regardless of your normal browser preference.
On Windows 11, go to Settings > Apps > Default apps, select your preferred browser, and click Set default. Check HTTP and HTTPS underneath as well. On Windows 10, use Settings > Apps > Default apps > Web browser.
After the next update, check those same settings before changing anything. If they still name your browser, the issue is probably the particular link you’re opening. If they’ve genuinely changed, update your browser and check whether this is a work/school-managed PC—an enforced default-app policy can reapply the organisation’s choice.
There isn’t a supported “lock forever” switch for a personal PC, but routine updates shouldn’t require you to keep resetting your browser. Avoid registry cleaners or default-app locking scripts; they can break the associations Windows uses. If it happens again, record the update’s KB number and which associations changed so you have something specific to report.
