When minimizing by clicking the window, some windows will not minimize.
When you click the Show Desktop button in the lower-right corner of the taskbar, most windows are minimized, but a few remain visible on the desktop. You need to click the “Show Desktop” button again to fully reveal the desktop.

Show Desktop should expose the desktop with one action, so first check whether the same windows remain each time. Press Win+D; Microsoft documents this shortcut as displaying or hiding the desktop. If Win+D leaves the same app visible, check that app for an Always on top setting and turn it off. If PowerToys Always On Top is enabled, focus the window and press Win+Ctrl+T to unpin it. Then update or repair the affected app. If different windows remain, install current Windows updates, restart, and retest. Next, perform a clean boot. This starts Windows with only essential drivers and startup programs, helping isolate background software conflicts. If the problem disappears, re-enable startup items and non-Microsoft services in groups until it returns. If it persists in a clean boot, record the affected app names, Windows build, and a short screen recording, then report it through Feedback Hub.
