When I open File Explorer, the window opens off-center on the screen
File Explorer opening in the upper-left is not necessarily a fault: Windows 11 provides Snap and layout controls, but no supported “always center Explorer” setting. First close every Explorer window, open one window, resize and position it, then close that last window and test Win+E again. If the coordinates still reset, temporarily disconnect any dock or second monitor and set identical display scaling, because a saved position from another display can be remapped onto the primary screen. In Settings > System > Multitasking, toggle Snap windows off, restart, and retest; then turn it back on if desired. Install pending Windows updates and restart the PC. Test a new local Windows account to separate a profile-specific placement problem from a system problem. If every account is affected, run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth followed by sfc /scannow. Until corrected, Win+Arrow or maximize is the supported positioning workaround.
