When exactly did my computer decide that "airplane mode" should turn on randomly?

My computer has started turning on airplane mode at random, cutting off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth even though I haven't changed any settings. When did this behavior begin, and what could be causing it—an update, a keyboard shortcut, or a hardware issue? I'd appreciate advice on how to find the cause and stop it from happening again.

First check whether Airplane mode actually switches on in Settings, rather than Wi-Fi simply disconnecting. If the switch stays off, this is more likely a wireless connection or driver problem.

If it really turns on, check the keyboard for a key with an airplane or wireless symbol, and any physical wireless switch on the laptop. An accidental press or faulty key can disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth together.

If it happens without touching the keyboard, check your laptop manufacturer’s hotkey/system-control utility. Update that utility and the relevant drivers from the manufacturer’s site for your exact model. If the problem started immediately after an update, compare the dates in Windows Update > Update history and consider rolling back the specific driver that changed.

Also note whether it happens after waking from sleep or only while typing—that helps separate a resume issue from a shortcut problem. Don’t disable the Windows Radio Management Service as a fix; it can interfere with normal wireless controls without addressing the cause.
