When did my laptop start beeping for no reason?
First establish whether the beep is coming through Windows audio or from the laptop’s hardware. Note whether it occurs before Windows signs in, during normal desktop use, when connecting power, or when pressing keys. A beep alone cannot identify overheating, a failing disk or a battery fault.
For a sound during desktop use, check notification center immediately afterward and review Settings > System > Notifications for the application shown. Windows also lets you enable visual audio alerts under Accessibility > Audio, which can make notification-related sounds easier to correlate. Change one identified application’s notification sound setting for a controlled test.
If the beep occurs before Windows starts, record its pattern and consult the laptop manufacturer with the exact model; Windows notification settings will not explain a firmware-stage alert. Share those observations and any accompanying on-screen warning before replacing hardware or applying unrelated driver fixes.
