Unable to remove an inactive/old linked PC from Link to Windows Android app
Hi everyone,
I currently have two PCs linked to the Link to Windows Android app. One of them is no longer active, but it still appears in the app, and I’m unable to remove it.
I have already tried the usual troubleshooting steps, including resetting the Link to Windows app, but the inactive PC continues to be listed. Interestingly, when I check Devices under my Microsoft Account, only my currently active PC is shown. The inactive PC does not appear there.
This issue has been ongoing for more than two years.
I recently contacted Microsoft Support regarding this issue, and after further troubleshooting, I was advised to seek assistance from the Microsoft Community.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue or knows how to remove an old/inactive PC that is still listed in the Link to Windows Android app?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

You have an old PC entry in Link to Windows that is absent from Microsoft Account Devices and survives an app reset, indicating a stale cross-device association rather than a normal device record. Microsoft’s supported unlink process requires cleanup on both sides.
On Android, open Link to Windows, select the signed-in Microsoft account, then choose Sign out and unlink. On the active PC, remove the phone under Phone Link > Settings > Devices and Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mobile devices > Manage devices. Remove remaining Bluetooth pairings on both devices. Clear Link to Windows app storage, restart both devices, sign in, and pair only the active PC.
If the inactive PC returns after this full unlink-and-relink cycle, the orphaned association is likely service-side. Capture the phone model, app version, screenshot, and account address, then ask Microsoft Support to escalate the stale Phone Link association rather than repeating local resets.

Hi Jamony, thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately, the issue remains unresolved despite completing all the steps you recommended.
The inactive PC still appears in Link to Windows on my Android phone.
I'll follow up with Microsoft Support to request an escalation of the stale Phone Link association.
Thank you again for your advice.
