The Recommended section in Windows 11 displays items from disconnected external drives

The Recommended section in the Start menu will continue to display recently opened files or folders stored on an external USB drive or memory card, even after the drive has been safely removed.

Clicking these entries will result in an error because the source is no longer available. These items will remain in the list for several days and cannot be manually removed.
