The best free video compression software for Windows 11?
The Photos app on Windows 11 isn't really a dedicated video compression utility, but it can actually shrink your videos if you use its "Trim" or "Create a new video" features. It's super basic, but hey, it's already on your PC and requires zero downloads, so it's worth a shot if you just need to quickly reduce a file size without any hassle.
Step 1. Open the "Photos" application, and click on the "Video Editor" or "New Video Project" button at the top.
Step 2. Click "Add", then select the file you want to compress to add the video.
Step 3. Get the video to the bottom storyboard (no need for editing, just keep it intact).
Step 4. Click "Complete Video", and select a video quality preset from the drop-down menu - common options include "High Quality" (larger file), "Standard" (medium), and "Low Quality" (smallest file).
Step 5. Name the new file and select the save location, then click "Export". Wait for a few minutes.
That's it. Choosing "Low Quality" will result in significantly smaller files, while the "Standard" option offers a good balance between size and quality. The biggest advantage is that no video compression utility need to be installed, and it's very easy to use.
