Switched from Release Preview to Dev Channel

I had been in the Release Preview channel for an extended period and made the decision to opt out. I officially left the program through my account settings and selected the option to discontinue participation after the upcoming release version, a straightforward process.

However, after this, my system initiated the download for an unexpected update: "Windows 11 Insider Preview 10.0.26120.961 (ge_release) (repair version)." To my surprise, upon checking the Insider Program settings, I discovered that I had been moved to the Dev Channel.

This transition was perplexing as I had been exclusively associated with the Release Preview channel previously. I am uncertain about how this change occurred. Are there any alternative remedies to address this aside from reinstalling Windows, or is that the only recourse to return to a stable Windows environment?

It's possible that during the transition process or due to a glitch, your settings were reverted or not fully processed, leading to an unintended enrollment in the Dev Channel. Microsoft sometimes pushes builds based on system conditions or settings.

If you're facing persistent issues and haven't been able to revert to a stable version, consider performing a repair install of Windows 11. This process retains your files and applications while replacing the operating system files.
