Switched from Release Preview to Dev Channel
I had been in the Release Preview channel for an extended period and made the decision to opt out. I officially left the program through my account settings and selected the option to discontinue participation after the upcoming release version, a straightforward process.
However, after this, my system initiated the download for an unexpected update: "Windows 11 Insider Preview 10.0.26120.961 (ge_release) (repair version)." To my surprise, upon checking the Insider Program settings, I discovered that I had been moved to the Dev Channel.
This transition was perplexing as I had been exclusively associated with the Release Preview channel previously. I am uncertain about how this change occurred. Are there any alternative remedies to address this aside from reinstalling Windows, or is that the only recourse to return to a stable Windows environment?
- It's possible that during the transition process or due to a glitch, your settings were reverted or not fully processed, leading to an unintended enrollment in the Dev Channel. Microsoft sometimes pushes builds based on system conditions or settings.
