Solution to Save as (not responding) for save as image
Earlier today I had a perplexing issue that all of a sudden I could not save images from the browser. This was the case with all browsers. When I tried to save an image to my computer the save as window at the top left said that it was not responding.
I looked online for solutions and tried all of the restarting clean booting et cetera without effect.
Then I went to where I had been storing saved images and found a temp file there that seemed to be an orphan. Once I removed that file everything was ok. It seemed that Windows created that file initially and somehow the process didn't complete but the file remained and would not allow the process to go again.
I hope this might help anyone who finds the same problem

Here is (an)other solution to the "Save As" problem in Win 11 (22H2).
Deinstall OneDrive
Yep. Found this "Save As" hang issue using MS Office 2003 (tested in word, excel and powerpoint). Wasted a lot of time with Office repair/installation, since no other applications seemed prone to this problem.I have to thank elevenforum for this suggestion (xandak specifically).
Hopefully someone will figure out how to use OneDrive alongside Office 2003. Cannot determine how this problem developed, unfortunately. 😞

Was wondering what the issue was because it happend to me with a brand new laptop out of the box. So as clean as a windows install can get and yet after installing 4 different browsers it kept happening.
Thanks so much for the solution. ebbrauer
Can get really annoying trying all sorts of settings and different software to get it to work. All this time it was just a Windows problem that was present from a fresh and clean Windows 11 install on a brand new device. Please Windows take note and try to fix this. Luckily I'm only using OneDrive on my PC from work and don't need it on my private PC (for now). Hope by the time I need OneDrive on my private PC the issue is resolved.
So anyone else with the same issue. Just remove OneDrive and that fixed it. Give it a try. ebbrauer

One more solid solution that work for me is to uninstall oneDrive if you have it in your any of the window maybe it's 10 or 11 just uninstall one drive from control panel then it will start working all the things properly - Drizzybro1Brass ContributorSometimes, applications may seem unresponsive while processing tasks. If it's a large file or if the app is doing intensive processing, give it a moment.
If your system is running low on memory or CPU, it might cause the application to hang. Close any unnecessary applications or tabs.
C Ensure that the application you are using is updated to the latest version. Sometimes bugs that cause freezing can be fixed in updates. - cos_calobrisiCopper Contributor
Here is better solution, simple, but took me hours to figure out (Link includes screen shots, but steps are pasted below).
On another PC, I was running Win 11 with One Drive and Office 2003 with no issue.
On PC with issue, I WAS running Win 10, One Drive (with Doc&DeskTop Synced) and Office 2003 with no issues.
After update of Win 10 PC to Win 11, ....
Tested both Word 2003 and Excell 2003. (Both Office 2003 applications have same issue.)
If I open a file from a window (on either D drive or One Drive), File opens fine, but...
"Save As" brings up a mostly blank window that never populates.
If I hit any button on window Word/Excell stops working.
To Fix, for Win 11, Un-Sync Just OneDrive "DeskTop"
Then, both Excel 2003 and Word 2003 work fine, "Save As" Works.
Steps to fix
- Right click little white Cloud on bottom right of task bar
- Select "Settings"
- Select "Sync and backup"
- Turn OFF "DeskTop"
That simple, took hours to figure out, hope this helps.
P.S. Is Anyone willing to part with a legal copy of Office 2007 (with Prod Key) or later? Maybe that version would work better?
