Smart App Control keeps blocking .msi files

I'm currently dealing with a weird problem and I hope that you'll be able to help! This started a couple of days ago:

Smart App Control kept popping up multiple times, saying that it blocked an app (an .msi file) because ... (this is where the notification cuts off).

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this happened at the exact same time in the evening (only once). On Thursday I wasn't home in the evening but it happened just a couple of minutes after I'd turned my PC on (before midnight) and again about an hour later (after midnight).

It's always the same 9 .msi files: They've all got seemingly random names, 5-6 characters each, and they're all located in the "C:\Windows\Installer" folder. 8 of them are connected to Visual C++ (2008-2016), one is by Samsung (connected to the "Smart Switch" app, accoding to "Properties"). They are always 2 notifications for each file.

My PC (Win 11, 25H2) is fairly "fresh", I've only been using it for about a month and only pretty much the bare minimum of apps is installed, apart from a couple of games. I'm also always really careful about what I download and where I download it from (but I guess you've probably heard that before).

I've already google the file names (no result), run a couple of long Malwarebytes scans, including on that folder, (no results), checked Event Viewer (there are a couple of messages regarding Malwarebytes but nothing about the .msi files) and checked autostart (nothing suspicious). There are no suspicious apps listed in "apps" (I uninstalled OneDrive and Copilot). Other than these weird blocks, my PC is working as expected, there's nothing weird going on otherwise - as far as I've seen. There are currently no new Windows updates that I could try installing.

Yesterday I had to uninstall the Visual C++ 2015-2022 x64 Redistributable because a game was acting up. Instead I installed the recommended 2015 version (yes, downloaded from the official Microsoft website) and Smart App Control blocked it, so I had to disable it until it was done installing (seriously....). It doesn't look like this changed anything about the pop-ups.

Has anyone come across this before? Why would these files even be run, is it Windows doing it but because these files are pretty old, they're not signed properly, so Smart App Control blocks them? How do I stop this?

You are not alone and your PC is likely not infected. This is a known problem with the "Smart App Control" feature on recent versions of Windows 11, and it appears you are experiencing the exact scenario described in several tech reports and forums.
