Sleep Mode Failures on Windows 11
Your laptop has three symptoms—failure to enter sleep, immediate wake, and a black screen after resume—so one registry change is unlikely to address them safely. Open an administrator Command Prompt and run powercfg /requests to find an app or driver blocking sleep. After an unwanted wake, run powercfg /lastwake, powercfg /waketimers, and powercfg /devicequery wake_armed. Address the named program or device; do not add a request override without confirming what it does. Also run powercfg /systemsleepdiagnostics /output system-sleep-diagnostics.html and review intervals where sleep failed. For a black screen, press Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B to reset the graphics driver, then disconnect external displays and peripherals. If the problem began after a display-driver update, roll that driver back in Device Manager. Share the command results, laptop model, and whether it uses Modern Standby before changing wake permissions or firmware settings. Those details are required to identify the supported fix.
