Security Breach?

So I have had an interesting almost 3 weeks now. Where after doing an "Security Update", not an "System Update", my laptop started crashing at each device connect/disconnect (windows was already at version 25h2). Every single time, even if the laptop was asleep.

So, last night I contacted support, and They told me that those issues occur during "System Updates" (revision updates). And those are caused by updates to power management (ACPI) and USB/Thunderbold drivers. Which last time I checked had nothing to do with Security. To fix it, I did a full rollback, which seems to work. And I have temporarily disabled windows updates, and locked down almost all connections.

Thanks to that I have a few questions:

Was this a freak accident or intended (to "Update" those drivers)? Cause it override the manufacturer software.

Was there a threat to my and/or client data?

When will it be fixed, if at all?

Windows updates often include driver updates, including those for USB, Thunderbolt, and ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface). These updates are meant to improve hardware compatibility, fix bugs, or address security vulnerabilities.

Driver updates, especially for power management (ACPI) and USB/Thunderbolt controllers, are often included in optional updates or driver rollups. Microsoft sometimes pushes driver updates through Windows Update, especially if they are considered critical or are part of cumulative updates.
