Search box just stops working after one letter
So I've been dealing with this weird issue for a while now. Every time I try to search for something—either in the taskbar or in File Explorer—it just locks up.
In File Explorer, I can only type one letter and then it stops responding. Can't type anything else, can't do anything with it.
In the taskbar search, I can type a full word, but I can't actually click or select any of the results that come up. Files, apps, settings—none of them are clickable.
Anyone else run into this or know what's causing it? It's getting pretty frustrating.

The search index is a database that Windows uses to quickly find files, apps, and settings. If this index gets corrupted, it can cause the search function to become unresponsive or yield strange results.
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → Task Manager → find Windows Explorer → right-click → Restart.
In Task Manager, look for SearchHost.exe or Search and end the task. Windows should restart it automatically.
Go to Settings → Privacy & security → Searching Windows → Advanced indexing options → Advanced → Rebuild to rebuild the search index.
I suggest repairing it by installing current version of windows exactly as Microsoft mentioned in this link:

Although it says Reinstalls the same version of Windows already on your PC, Repairs system files and components and Preserves your apps, files, and settings. But for worst case, I still recommend to backup your important data in external device like pen drive, Drive, etc
