Search box just stops working after one letter
So I've been dealing with this weird issue for a while now. Every time I try to search for something—either in the taskbar or in File Explorer—it just locks up. In File Explorer, I can only type one...
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → Task Manager → find Windows Explorer → right-click → Restart.
In Task Manager, look for SearchHost.exe or Search and end the task. Windows should restart it automatically.
Go to Settings → Privacy & security → Searching Windows → Advanced indexing options → Advanced → Rebuild to rebuild the search index.
