Screen goes black during messenger calls and can't wake it up

For some reason, a few minutes in to videocalls on Facebook messenger my screen goes completely black. The person I am on a call with can still see me and hear me just fine, but I can't see anything, only hear them. I also can't wake the screen again so usually this ends in me having to re-boot win11 and call back. It's both on the messenger app and internally on Facebook. Any thoughts what I could do here?

    1.Check for Software Updates
Ensure your device's operating system and the Messenger app are up to date.
Go to your device's settings and check for any available updates.
    2. Restart Your Device
A simple restart can often resolve temporary issues. Power off your device completely, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
    3. Adjust Display Settings
Ensure that your auto-brightness or sleep settings are not causing the screen to turn off during calls.
Go to your device settings and check settings for display brightness and sleep timer.

Skyler-B Hi, thanks for the reply.

I have done all of these things and nothing has worked so far. When the screen goes black, my only option is to turn off the laptop since I can't do anything else. I had my screen sleep settings to 3 mins with battery, an hour without. But I can't imagine that would kick in even while running on battery since there is no reason for the screen to go into sleep mode during a video call?
