Reinstalling corrupted Windows 11 without losing all data

Hi All -

My issue is that my laptop crashed during a Windows update. I have tried everything. Twice, I got Windows to start, but it crashed.

I didn't get much help on the Microsoft Community forum. You can see my post here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_11-wintop_backup/windows-11-will-not-boot-after-a-crash-during-the/c7b3cfc2-d72f-4434-8900-977b19f87a87?page=1

I have concluded that I have to reinstall Windows as none of the repairs work.

I read a post “Can I fresh windows 11 install without losing data” on this forum, but it seems to be a dead post: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/discussions/windows11/can-i-fresh-windows-11-install-without-losing-data/4396521

I am not getting the "Reset this PC" or any other option mentioned in that post with Windows 11 Installation Media on a USB.

Instead, I get a check box where I have to agree that "all files, apps, and settings will be lost!"

I see that Windows 11 Installation Assistant does have options, but you need to have Windows running to use the Installation Assistant, which I don’t.

Thus, Microsoft seems to have no method of fixing Windows on a corrupted system without wiping the drive. That's crazy.

Is there another method to reinstall Windows 11?

Thank you!

Boot the USB flash drive into a command prompt with Windows 11, open and copy the personal files from the C drive to external storage via Notepad, and reinstall the system to retain the data.
