Still no solution for Windows 11?larrylag
- larrylagOct 10, 2022Copper ContributorLike u I am a casual user and can't see spending $150 for a DYMO print server or buying a Brother label printer for $300. And ur right, it is ridiculous.
- larrylagOct 10, 2022Copper ContributorI gave up on my PC with win 11 and put it back on my wife's PC with win 10 where it use to work. BTW my printer is a duo 400 not a 450. I forgot I had done updates on her pc which was a mistake. Well anyway could not get the tape to print. So I went through the cabooky dance. At first it didn't work but after a few minutes all of a sudden it printed several tape labels in the Q..

To come back on my latest comment;
When i started my laptop today it suddenly started printing Tape labels i had tried printing last week.
Guess they were still in the queue.. But now both tape and label are both working again.
I'm afraid to reboot again though.
I'll let you know if it still works tomorrow. Maybe the trick is to have something in your queue on boot lol...

This situation is ridiculous. I'm a very casual user so there's no way I want their print server.
Guess they won't shout about non-Win11 compatability in their glossy advertising.
- ErwinITHOct 06, 2022Brass ContributorI just tried the procedure on a Windows 10 computer.
As been mentioned above, both printers only work untile rebooted.
Then the tape printer is disconnected, the label printer still works. - carlo143Oct 06, 2022Copper ContributorFor me it doesn't matter how frustrating, but I work a lot with labels as well as for home use such as for my sports club.
I thought we would buy something expensive and of high quality, but we were taught better 😞
no matter who is to blame for me, the whole thing hangs on Dymo.
We are considering switching to the Brother label printers this week.
Today I also tried to operate the tape printer on Windows 10, but after a restart the tape printer did not work again.
either I'm too stupid or that exceeds my abilities to use this label printer...... - KevinWOct 06, 2022Brass Contributor
I grappled with this issue for months and months including raising several formal fault reports with MS, feedback through the Insider Ring channel and of course with Dymo. Although there were several potential breakthroughs at different times have all proved to be dead ends. I think the 'high point' was when an Insider Preview Build in the early summer actually 'fixed' the issue - only for it to get broken again with a subsequent release a couple of weeks later.
The only sustainable solution I've found, which I have now been using for several months, is to purchase a Dymo Print Server (other contributors have mentioned the possibility of using other makes of print server) and install the normal Dymo 450 Duo Drivers and Label v.8.7.4.48936 software for access via the network rather than direct USB. I baulked greatly at the extra cost to fix something which did work perfectly before, but in the end it's been worth it simply to know I can just press 'print' when I want to without any more of the endless frustration.
Best regards,
Kevin
- carlo143Oct 06, 2022Copper ContributorI don't want to spoil anyone's mood or day early in the morning, but I've given up hope and this answer encourages me to
Dymo and Microsoft shift the responsibility back and forth and the stupid one is the end customer,
i will dismantle the label printer and buy something safe
Here is the answer from Dymo customer center:
good morning mr carlo
Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by using our device.
The instructions concern the restriction with the tape printer detection after the last Windows 10 update - unfortunately the instructions are not intended for use on Windows 11.
In general, the LabelWriter 450 Duo is not compatible with Windows 11. Although you can still use the label printer for the labels, it is unfortunately not possible to use the label and the tape printer at the same time. The topic was forwarded to Microsoft, but unfortunately there was no information as to whether this model would work with Windows 11.
From customer experience I can say that if you would install the tape printer for the tapes separately, then it should be possible to print on tapes, now you would have to alternately uninstall and reinstall the label and tape each time in order to be able to write on either labels or tapes .
Please excuse the circumstances.
Thank you for your understanding and have a nice day.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch.
Kind regards
Julita

Does anyone have experience with other manufacturers of tape and label printers where you can recommend that they are compatible with windows 11? - JoeriSwOct 06, 2022Brass ContributorI can confirm that mine also stopped working after a reboot. ( Windows 11 22H2 + Dymo Connect)
Guess the PDF is NOT a permanent fix..
I think were are back at the beginning to find a different solution. - larrylagOct 05, 2022Copper ContributorI've been told that not a good idea to install 22H2 but let MS determine when to do it. MS knows your machine. They release updates “when your device is ready”… as in they are not positive your combination of hardware will run what they have… So a as precaution they release it to the combos that are confident in. Once they learn from that they adjust and release it to more. Your best bet is to not rush to nuke your computer if your computer is running fine. Let others do so.
Here is the latest info from Dymo:
In connection with your inquiry, I would like to inform you that DYMO Connect Software is our latest software that supports both LabelWriter 450 and 550 Series. Here is the download link for the latest version of DYMO Connect for Windows PCs. Administrative rights required.): LINK
Note: The printer MUST be DISCONNECTED when running the installation.
At the end of the installer, please wait for the Installation Wizard to prompt you the following message:
""If this is a new installation, please connect the printer now"".
It will give you this message before you click 'Finish'. At that point, please connect the printer and wait for the ""New Found hardware"" or ""Installing device driver software"" pop-up to appear. After a period of time, the message should let you know if the driver was ""installed successfully"" and is ""ready to use"".

The question I have is after u install Dymo connect do u need S/W 8.7.4? What is the function of Dymo connect? - larrylagOct 05, 2022Copper ContributorI went to print a tape and it didn't work.Tried several things and still didn't work so I changed USB port from 2.0 to 3.0. Nothing. Switched back to original USB 2.0 the printer came alive and printed a tape. I looked in the Q and there were several tape doc to b printed. Unplugged the USB cable plugged it in again and it printed one more tape. Not something I'd like to do every time I want a table label. What a mess.

Bad News
It worked also after a reboot, but the dymo label-software 8.7.4 freezes after a few minutes.
Could not close and also not end the task by taskmanager. After next reboot, only the label part works not the tape.
- Juergen85Oct 05, 2022Copper Contributor
Today i did the Windows 11 Update H22
afterwards i deinstalled all my dymo software (connect and label)
Next i removed all remaining "dymo" entries in registry
Did a restart
installed dymo connect
installed dymo label 8.7.4
End now my Dymo LW450 DUO is working like in the old days, both is working DUO Label an DUO Tape 128 (the device is connected with USB)
It look like the Windows Update may solve the problem in combination with a fresh dymo installation
- ErwinITHOct 05, 2022Brass ContributorJust got a phone from a customer. He had an update, not sure if it was Windows, Dymo or something else, but it doesn't print anymore since then.
Windows 10 21H2 build 19044.2006, Dymo Connect 1.4.131.
Tried the procedure in the Dymo pdf, printers installed when connecting but won't print on the labels. Tape does print.
Sounds like same issue as with Windows 11.
I'll try some stuff in my office but it doesn't sound good.
But I'm a bit baffled why removing the paper after the power is removed and reinserting the paper before you power it back on will actually help??? That doesn't make much sense to me. - larrylagOct 04, 2022Copper ContributorI am using Dymo version DYMO Label Software 8.7.4 which is the latest I believe and is the correct one. But not sure now.

- larrylagOct 04, 2022Copper ContributorVersion 21H2 (OS Build 22000.1042
At first I had my nephew who is an IT guy do it remotely as I don't like messing in the reg. It didn't work. So I did it on my own, rebooted, and tape worked this time but not label. I am using Dymo version DYMO Label Software 8.7.4 which is the latest. Maybe I should use a difference version?? - IngoM56Oct 04, 2022Copper ContributorI followed the instruction, too. After that, both printers work, but only for one time.
After a reboot, the tape driver goes to error, again. - megatech1966Oct 04, 2022Copper ContributorHave you done a reboot?
- JoeriSwOct 04, 2022Brass ContributorAh great news!
Maybe it was the last update that you needed 🙂 (or deleting every registry DYMO related)
anyway good that it works!!
I did not perform a restart yet though so i hope it still works after a reboot. - Horrgakx1235Oct 04, 2022Copper Contributor
I have some great news!!
- I have updated Win11 to 22H2 [22621.525] using the Windows 11 Install tool (note to others - Windows Update DOES NOT pick up the 22H2 update!!)
- I have run Windows Update which installed a cumulative update
- I have uninstalled the printer drivers, including any registry entries relating to Dymo (where I could
I can confirm that although the label printer works, also, now, amazingly, the tape printer DOES WORK!! :))))
- JoeriSwOct 04, 2022Brass ContributorHmm not sure why it's not working for you. During the registry steps i deleted everything Dymo related (not just the labelwriter).
What program are you using to print? Dymo Connect or Dymo Labelwriter?
I'm using Dymo Connect version 1.4.3.131 - Horrgakx1235Oct 04, 2022Copper Contributor
Ok so this is my latest update;
- I have updated Win11 to 22H2 [22621.525]
- I have run Windows Update which installed a cumulative update
- I have uninstalled the printer drivers, including any registry entries relating to Dymo (where I could
I can confirm that although the label printer works, also, now, amazingly, the tape printer DOES WORK!! :))))

I can confirm megatech1966
on Windows 11 21H2 Build 22000.978
happy too soon 😞
after a restart everything with the old tape is no longer active only the label printer - megatech1966Oct 04, 2022Copper Contributor
JoeriSw I have a later version of Windows 11. It worked after I followed the instructions. Didn’t work after a reboot.
