The key detail is that new files are still appearing under D:\FileHistory, while only the Last backup display and version timeline remain stale. That suggests the backup engine may be writing data but the File History catalog or restore interface is not reflecting it. Microsoft’s KB5101684 release notes list no known issue and include a File History fix for SMB destinations, so a regression is not officially confirmed. First, use Restore personal files and verify that a test file can be opened and restored. Then run File History manually from Control Panel and recheck after a restart. Test a new folder and, if possible, a separate destination to distinguish catalog corruption from source scanning. Do not delete the existing backup or remove a security update yet. Install the latest cumulative update, then submit Feedback Hub reports from both PCs with the KB numbers, build numbers, destination type, and timestamps.
