Outlook New PDF and Word not previewing
I am having an issue on a domain user PC ilin which the user's Attach>open dialog does not preview pdf or word files, but does preview photos. This box seems to be using Windows 11 file explorer to higlight the attachment and preview. What does work in the same preview in Outlook Classic, regular navigating to the files in File explorer, and even on Outlook New's option to select preview from the drop down of an already attached file in the compose or reply box. The preview of an already attached file which seems to use an Outlook New feature, not file explorer, is extra steps that the user would not like to have. Ive tried match adobe acrobat, outlook new, and office desktop apps are all 64 bit. Pdf preview has been enabled or disabled in Acrobat, no change.

Your issue sounds like a classic problem with the Outlook attachment preview pane not displaying PDFs or Word documents in the Attach>Open dialog, even though other preview methods like in Outlook Classic or File Explorer work fine. Since the preview works in Outlook’s modern UI and in File Explorer, but not in the attachment dialog, it suggests a problem with the integration or the preview handler registration specifically for that dialog.
