Notepad jumps to top of page every time I minimize the app; is there a setting to stop this?

Hello,   Just got Windows 11 with the new Notepad. Is there a way (a setting) to get Notepad to keep the cursor where I leave it when I minimize Notepad so that when I return to it I don't have to ...

I have the same issue recently. Just bc of the space mark you make at the front of the text. Don't thank

Thank you, it's indeed the space at the beginning of the text that's causing the problem!

    zhiqiqiufantastic. I removed blank spaces at the beginning of my text document and now the cursor stays at the last position I had it at. All is well with the universe again. 🙂

      gotto44NO!! All is not right with the world! In what way is this okay--that a space (or in my case a blank line) at the top of a text file should cause such erroneous behaviour? Then we can talk about the bizarre monospace font glitches. How did this hot mess even get released? It's been years--how long does it take to fix?

        I agree with RWHaddow53

        My problem was every time I clicked back in to the open NotePad document the cursor would go to the end of the document.

        This behavior just started about three weeks ago.

        I had blank lines at the end and at the beginning of the document.  I deleted these blank lines and now the cursor will appear where I click back in the document.  So, at least the annoying behavior is fixed for now.  I suspect there will be other glitches in the future, however

      Hooray! This just started happening for me yesterday and I couldnt figure out why and was extremely annoying because I maintain a massive notepad document where I never delete anything either. This fixed it thanks so much!!!!

      I noticed this happening starting yesterday as well.  This never happened before!  I'm using the same text documents and I edit software code in notepad.  No space characters at the beginning of the document. Now it is just irritating me to no end.  Feedback provided to MS.

        MarkT945I thought I was going crazy for a while. You see I have a couple of simple docs open for note taking etc. So I often cut/paste/delete to move things around and eventually I cut a couple of top lines and this started happening. Such a strange bug. I didn't even know how to phrase the problem correctly not being native speaker but first search and one of the first results led me here. Not the first time I find the answer in these forums. Thanks everyone!
