New computer and old Windows license
- Jan 29, 2025
Hi MiNos
Unfortunately, if you change the motherboard and processor, it could be seen as a major hardware change, which might cause Windows to no longer be activated on the old device. However, if your license is linked to your Microsoft account, you might be able to transfer it to the new device by contacting Microsoft support. They should be able to help you deactivate the old system and assign the license to the new one.
What happens if I change the motherboard and processor? Can I withdraw activation on the old device and assign the license to the new one?
