Hello,
The issue described concerns deleting online-only files (files stored in the cloud but not downloaded locally). When deleting these files, they are permanently removed from the PC without going to the Recycle Bin, and you may not see the confirmation prompt.
Re-enable the Delete Confirmation Dialog
If you checked "Don't ask me again," you can reset this setting:
- Open File Explorer.
- Right-click the Recycle Bin and select Properties.
- Enable the option Display delete confirmation dialog.
- Click OK.
Check OneDrive or Cloud Settings
- Ensure that your cloud service (e.g., OneDrive) is not bypassing the dialog:
Open OneDrive Settings:
- Right-click the OneDrive icon in the system tray.
- Go to Settings > Sync and Backup.
Confirm whether there’s an option related to deleting online-only files.
- For Google Drive or Dropbox, check their respective settings for deletion behavior.
Set Files to Always Be Available Locally
To avoid losing track of online-only files:
- In File Explorer, right-click the folder or file.
- Select Always keep on this device. This ensures a local copy is stored and that deleted files move to the Recycle Bin.
