3D Builder is still available but it is no longer prominently listed as a default app on new Windows installations. 3D Builder was initially included in Windows 10 as a pre-installed application, but it is not pre-installed on newer versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11. However, you can still download and use it from the Microsoft Store.

    About 3D Builder

3D Builder is a versatile tool for viewing, creating, and fixing 3D models, particularly in STL format, which is widely used for 3D printing. It has remained a favorite for many users because of its ease of use and capabilities in repairing and optimizing STL files for 3D printing. The app offers a simple interface for beginners while providing several essential features like:

    • Model Repair: Automatically detects and repairs issues in STL files.
    • Model Modification: Provides basic tools to scale, rotate, and transform models.
    • Mesh Simplification and Optimization: Allows for reduction of mesh complexity for better printing performance.
    • File Conversion: Supports multiple file formats (STL, OBJ, 3MF, etc.).
    • 3D Printing Integration: Directly connects with 3D printers for easy printing workflows.

    Availability

If you don't see 3D Builder in your list of apps or in the Microsoft Store, you can follow these steps to check and install it:

    1. Search for "3D Builder" in the Microsoft Store app on your Windows device.
    2. Download and Install the app from there if it's not already on your device.

If you can't find it in the Microsoft Store, there might be regional restrictions or changes in its availability. However, as of now, 3D Builder should still be accessible for download.

    Alternative Tools

If you find that 3D Builder is no longer suitable for your needs or is not available, there are other tools that can serve similar purposes:

    • Meshmixer: Offers more advanced mesh editing and repair features.
    • Blender: A powerful, free, open-source tool with extensive capabilities for 3D modeling and STL file repair.
    • Microsoft 3D Viewer: Another app from Microsoft for viewing and minor editing of 3D files, but it lacks some of the repair capabilities of 3D Builder.

Would you like more details on any of these tools or further assistance with using 3D Builder?
