My Motherboard short circuit, how to fix?

My Windows laptop suddenly shut off after a small liquid spill near the vent area and now it will not power on at all, with no charging light or fan spin when I press the power button. I suspect a motherboard short circuit because I have already tried a different charger and removed the battery, but there is still no response, so I would appreciate any advice on whether this is repairable or if I should replace the whole board.
