Music Files Losing Data As I Organize/Move Them Around In File Explorer

So I am working on music and creating folders to further organize tracks later. I make them online only through dropbox so to keep my storage space open. When I bring the files back offline to throw them in the appropriate folders, sometimes they lose their properties like contributing artists, title, album name, and track #. IT'S SO FRUSTRATING!

and it seems to happen only randomly to some files. This is unacceptable for this project, as one day I'd like to cast everything on a media player and just love life listening to all the music I want.

I try refreshing pages, sending the files to online only and back, dropbox's rewind feature but it's unreliable. No, the only way for me to fix the files are to restore the previous version of a file...one at a time when there can be hundreds and then PRAY it doesn't happen again, but it does!

What can be done to prevent files from losing their details? It's one of my life goals to complete and keep this project up to date. Losing the properties is the absolute worst thing that can happen.

Metadata is stored inside the music files (like ID3 tags for MP3s), but sometimes when files are moved or altered outside of the music app, or if Dropbox re-syncs them, the tags can get stripped or corrupted.

Where did you get those music files and do you have the source files?

I downloaded them. What do you mean source file? They come as they should.
