Line under taskbar icons
There's a weird line below some taskbar icons. Before, I knew that line indicates if app is open/focused, but there's a line under closed apps now, for example third icon in my screenshot, while second icon is not underlined! And why is so longer - each line has a different width like it indicates something, but no clue what.
How to remove the line under apps which are not running?
What does the line means even? Why its so inconsistent and confusing?
Running latest 24H2 btw.

I find those underlines extremely annoying. Just when I think I've completely closed a program or an app...
Nobody told us what those underlines even mean. Why they differ in color and length on open apps.
I've been IT savvy for about 15 years and feel as informed about this particular issue as a lab rat right now. Even Google doesn't give any sound results.

Has anyone found a way to fix this?

No. There's about 20 mentions of it on Feedback Hub, each formulated a bit different, each getting 1-3 votes and Feeback Hub's "AI" is unable to group them. A solution will not help Copilot, Bing, MSN or LInkedIn so it probably will not be fixed. Remember Windows is not an operating system and your're not the customer.... anymore.

I'm also experiencing this issue. My guess is that the gray line under the taskbar icons indicates that the app has been recently used, because when I open and close apps, the line appears.

I have the same issue. About a week ago, maybe two, I saw underlines under app links on my taskbar. I didn't have them before. Now they are distracting and cause concern as I do not know where they came from. There are underlines under apps which are open and which I have recently accessed. I can't find a way to turn them off.
