This is a hardware problem, not a Windows 11 setting. The hinge may be seizing, or its mounting points may be pulling away from the back cover or laptop chassis.
- Stop repeatedly opening and closing the screen. Leave it at a comfortable angle if possible.
- Shut down the laptop, unplug the charger, and check for gaps around the hinge, bezel or bottom cover.
- Back up important files while the laptop is still usable.
- Check the warranty and arrange service with the manufacturer or a repair shop. The hinge, mounting brackets or damaged cover may need replacement.
- Stop using the screen immediately if it begins separating, flickering or going blank.
Do not spray WD-40 or other lubricant into the hinge. It can reach the electronics and will not repair broken mounting points. Repairing it early is usually cheaper than waiting until the cover or display cable is damaged.
