Laptop hinge becomes stiff or makes cracking sounds
The hinge on my laptop has become increasingly stiff and now produces audible cracking or popping sounds whenever I open or close the screen, making the movement feel uneven and jerky rather than smooth. I am concerned this may indicate a failing hinge mechanism or internal damage to the display cables, and I need advice on whether this can be repaired or if the entire assembly needs replacement before it causes further harm.

Turn off your laptop completely and disconnect it from any power source to ensure safety.

The internal mechanism of the hinge itself may have worn down, corroded, or cracked, causing it to grind and pop as it moves.

This leads to screen flickering, lines on the screen, or a completely black display.
