Is anyone else encountering games crashing upon launching in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 24H2?
Hello everyone. I recently upgraded to Windows 11 24H2 when it was released to the Release Preview channel. However, I've been experiencing consistent crashes with some games upon launch.
This issue is only occurring with a select few games, including Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Origins, Far Cry, and Need for Speed Unbound (based on my testing). When launching these games, they appear in the task manager, crash, and sometimes remain "stuck" consuming 20 Kb of memory until I either log out or reboot.
While some games start working again after a reboot, others continue to crash persistently regardless of what troubleshooting steps I take, even after performing a clean OS installation or updating drivers.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm using an NVIDIA GPU. Has this issue been addressed in the latest cumulative update?
I have already allowed myself to express my opinion. Microsoft should remember what it built Windows' strong position on initially - and these were games that cannot be found in such abundance on other OSes. Therefore, these types of problems should be a priority for the development team, rather than - with all due respect - adding more fonts or graphical changes to the login layout.
Moreover, for a long time I have been wondering about the purpose of creating the Canary channel. This channel was supposed to test changes that were well ahead of Dev and Beta. And we all know how it is. This channel would make sense if we were now testing the first builds of Windows 12.
Jeffreychees I have the same issue - Star Wars outlaws seems to run ok in exclusive fullscreen and admin mode. Avatar Frontiers of Pandora runs for around 10 mins with admin and exclusive full screen before crashing.

I also have crash issues with Star Wars Outlaws since 24H2 update in the Release Preview chanel. The game works fine a few minutes then crashes suddenly, without an error message.
I rolled-back to the 23H2 version and everything works fine.
Same problem on my computer with the latest versions of Canary if I start playing Star Wars Outlaws.
The game crashes after even several dozen seconds without any error message.

Jeffreychees having the same problems. Sometimes (Call of Duty) shows a DirectX error others just get stuck and stop responding without errors.
