I tried changing to mbr2gpt

So last night I tried to go to mbr2gpt to use secure boot, I had no issues doing so and my computer was running perfectly fine. Until today I just tried to boot it up and unfortunately it wont boot past a black screen that says “Loading operating system”, now I have the Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4P motherboard and I’m not sure if that’s the issue or what it is my computer just wont boot past the “Loading operating system” I don’t know much about computers so that might’ve been my first mistake trying to mess around with settings I know nothing about lol

Enabling Secure Boot typically requires UEFI boot mode. If your BIOS isn't configured for UEFI, this can cause boot issues.

  • Hey, no worries — messing around with things like mbr2gpt and UEFI/Secure Boot can be tricky if you're not super familiar with all the details. From what you’re describing, it sounds like your system might have run into a boot issue after you tried converting from MBR to GPT.

  • If the GPT conversion caused hardware or compatibility issues, and you have a backup, restoring to MBR might be a safer option.
