I got the USB initialization timing problems
Every time I start up or wake my Windows PC from sleep, my USB keyboard, mouse, and external drives either fail to initialize at all or take an unusually long time of about thirty seconds before they...
Since several USB devices are delayed together, the problem is more likely the USB controller, a hub, BIOS settings or power delivery than the individual devices.
Try these checks in order:
- Disconnect every USB device except the keyboard and mouse. Connect them directly to the rear motherboard ports, not through a hub or front-panel port.
- Restart and test. If the delay disappears, reconnect the external drives and other devices one at a time to find the one slowing initialization.
- Open Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable and turn off Fast Startup.
- Enter the BIOS/UEFI, disable Fast Boot, and install the latest BIOS update from the computer manufacturer.
- In Device Manager, uninstall the USB host controllers under Universal Serial Bus controllers, then restart. Windows will reinstall them automatically.
Try entering the BIOS immediately after powering on. If the keyboard is also delayed inside the BIOS, Windows is not causing the problem. That points to the motherboard firmware, a USB hub, an external drive drawing too much power, or a hardware fault.
If everything works normally in the BIOS but becomes delayed only when Windows starts, check Event Viewer for USBHUB3 or Kernel-PnP errors around the startup time. Those entries may identify the device or controller that is timing out.
