I don't get any notifications on WhatsApp Windows app

Is there a solution? I don't even use MS Edge, unless it comes up when I click a help link on Windows.
Can this corruption affect notifications on my phone if they're linked? I used to get notifications on my phone, but after the latest update, I don't.
I have a message on my update page that says I can reinstall Windows to solve problems, but I don't really want to have to do that if it means starting from scratch just to get notificaions, plus I did that once and it automatically installed updates I didn't want on yet.
