I can't mirror or connect ipad to pc wirelessly on windows 11
Unlike mirroring to a Mac or Apple TV, the PC doesn't show up in my iPad's screen mirroring list. My setup:
- Device: iPad Air M4
- PC: Windows 11 Home
- Network: Both are on the same 5GHz Wi-Fi network.
What I'm looking for:
- Is there a way to connect ipad to pc wirelessly without buying extra hardware?
- Are there any trusted third-party apps (free or paid) that act as an AirPlay receiver for Windows 11?
- Are there security risks I should be aware of when using third-party mirroring software?
I looked into the "Wireless Display" feature in Windows 11 and Windows 10, but that seems to use Miracast to mirror ipad to pc, which my iPad doesn't seem to support. Any recommendations or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

You're absolutely right that your Windows PC won't show up in your iPad's screen mirroring list because Apple's AirPlay protocol is proprietary and only works with Apple devices like Macs and Apple TV.
To connect iPad to PC wirelessly, you can use the AirDroid app, which offers a feature called "Wireless File Transfer" or a third-party product called "Microsoft Remote Desktop" or "Mobility Partner" but they are not the most user-friendly solutions. Another option is using a service called "Flying Carpet", a software tool that can wirelessly connect iPad to PC wirelessly, allowing you to transfer files and share content between devices.
Here's how to use Flying Carpet to connect iPad to PC wirelessly:
- Download and install the Flying Carpet software on your Windows 11 PC.
- Open the Flying Carpet software on your PC and follow the prompts to pair your iPad with your PC.
- On your iPad, download and install the Flying Carpet app from the App Store.
- Launch the Flying Carpet app on your iPad and follow the prompts to connect to your PC.
- Once connected, you'll be able to transfer files and share content between your iPad and PC wirelessly.
Note: Ensure both your iPad and PC are connected to the same Wi-Fi network for the connection to work.
Flying Carpet offers a convenient and wireless way to connect iPad to PC wirelessly, making it easier to share files, photos, and other content between devices.

Using a USB-C adapter to mirror iPad to PC on Windows 11 can be a practical solution if you want a seamless display of your iPad screen on your computer. While Windows 11 doesn't natively support iPad mirroring, you can achieve this with the right hardware and software.
Here's how you can mirror iPad to PC on Windows 11:
1. Get a USB-C to HDMI or DisplayPort Adapter:Connect your iPad to your PC via a USB-C adapter that supports video output. This allows you to use your PC as an external display for your iPad.
2. Use Third-Party Apps for Mirroring iPad to PC on Windows 11:Since Windows 11 doesn't have built-in iPad mirroring, you'll need to install third-party software. These apps can receive AirPlay signals from your iPad.
3. Connect and Mirror:
Ensure both your iPad and Windows 11 PC are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Launch the mirroring app on your PC.

Based on your setup, here are some potential reasons why your iPad might not be able to connect iPad to PC wirelessly:
1. Windows 11's screen mirroring limitation: Windows 11 doesn't support screen mirroring from iOS devices (like your iPad) out of the box. This is because iOS devices use a proprietary protocol called AirPlay, which is not natively supported by Windows.
2. PC's discoverability: As I mentioned earlier, you need to enable the Discoverable option on your PC. However, this might not be enough, as Windows 11 has some additional requirements for screen mirroring.
3. 5GHz Wi-Fi network: While you mentioned that both devices are connected to the same 5GHz Wi-Fi network, it's possible that the network is not properly configured for screen mirroring. Try switching to a different network or restarting your router to see if that resolves the issue.
4. iPad's screen mirroring restrictions: Apple has some restrictions on screen mirroring from iOS devices, including limitations on the types of devices that can receive mirrored content. While your PC might be capable of receiving screen mirroring, it might not meet Apple's requirements.
5. Additional requirements: Some Windows 11 features, including screen mirroring, require additional setup or configuration. Try enabling the Project to this PC feature on your Windows 11 PC, and see if that makes a difference.
To overcome these limitations, you can try the following:
Use a Chromecast or Google Home: If you have a Chromecast or Google Home device, you can use it as a wireless screen mirroring receiver or connect iPad to PC wirelessly on your PC.

EasyCast, a user-friendly screen mirroring application developed by CAI HAO, designed to wirelessly display your mobile device's screen on a larger monitor, such as a Windows PC . The app's primary appeal lies in its simplicity and broad compatibility, supporting connections not only to Windows 10/11 PCs but also to Xbox, Mac, Apple TV, and even other mobile devices. So it is my favorite way to mirror ipad to pc wirelessly.
For iPad users specifically, this means you can easily share your screen for activities like showing off photos, watching videos, or giving presentations without the hassle of cables.
Pros
- Free to use: The basic version of the app is available at no cost.
- Broad compatibility: Works with multiple platforms including Windows PC, Mac, Xbox, and Apple TV.
- Wireless and easy setup: Connects over Wi-Fi without cables and has a simple, intuitive interface.
- Low latency: Designed for real-time streaming, making it suitable for watching videos.
- Privacy-focused: The app is encrypted and does not share user data with third parties.
Cons
Limited features in free version: Includes watermarks and ads; audio sharing requires a premium subscription.
- Connection instability: Users report mirroring failures, screen freezes, or black displays.
- Proximity dependent: Requires both devices on the same network; no remote mirroring over the internet.
- No advanced features: Lacks annotation tools, emulator controls for gaming, and Android TV casting.
- Aggressive upgrade prompts: Free users are frequently prompted to upgrade, hindering the experience.
In summary, EasyCast presents a simple and free entry point for wirelessly mirroring your iPad to a Windows 11 PC. Its cross-platform support and easy setup are significant benefits. However, potential users should weigh these against the potential for connection instability, the limitations of the free version, and the lack of advanced features like annotation or remote control.

You can try the free spacedesk app for mirroring iPad to pc wirelessly. It is a powerful and popular software solution that effectively turns your iPad into a wireless second monitor for your Windows PC . It works by installing a "driver" (server) on your Windows machine and a "viewer" (client) app on your iPad, which then communicate over your local Wi-Fi network.
What makes spacedesk particularly appealing is that it is completely free for personal, non-commercial use and offers robust functionality, allowing you to either mirror your main display or extend your Windows desktop, giving you valuable extra screen real estate for multitasking
To connect ipad to pc wirelessly on windows 11, download the "spacedesk Driver for Windows" . Run the installer on your PC. Once installed, you'll find the spacedesk icon in your system tray, indicating the server is running.
On your iPad, open the App Store, search for the official "spacedesk" app, and install it.
Ensure both your Windows 11 PC and your iPad are connected to the same Wi-Fi network . For the best performance, a 5 GHz network is recommended.
Open the spacedesk app on your iPad. It will automatically scan the network and display your computer's name. Tap on it to initiate the connection. After a few seconds, your Windows desktop should appear on your iPad.
By default, your iPad might just mirror your main screen. To use it as a true extended monitor, right-click on your Windows desktop, go to Display settings, scroll down to "Multiple displays," and select "Extend these displays" . You can also drag the display rectangles here to match the physical arrangement of your monitors
