How to print a password protect PDF that won't let you print?
Why You can't print password protected PDF? Here's why: a PDF can have two types of passwords:
- Document Open Password: This is the one you type to just view the file.
- Permissions Password: This is a separate password that controls what you can do with the file, like printing, editing, or copying content.
The straightforward answer is: Adobe Acrobat Reader will strictly obey the printing restrictions set by the PDF's creator. If the document is set to "can't print password protected PDF," then Reader will not let you print it. Period.
If the person who created the PDF set a "Permissions Password" and specifically chose "None" under the "Printing Allowed" menu, then that restriction is baked into the file. When you open it in Adobe Acrobat Reader, the Print button will be grayed out, and you'll see a message in the document properties that says printing is "Not Allowed".
You could open the PDF with the Document Open Password a hundred times, and it won't matter—you still can't print password protected PDF because the permissions are locked.
The bottom line is that Adobe Acrobat Reader is designed to enforce security, not bypass it. You need the Permissions Password to change the printing setting. Without it, you're completely stuck.
