How to permanently remove or uninstall mcafee from Windows 11?
McAfee is so annoying and drives me crazy! It came pre-installed on my Windows 11 laptop, and standard uninstallation through control panel doesn't get rid of everything. I still see McAfee services ...
Why McAfee is hard to remove?
- It installs deep system services and drivers
- It protects itself from being removed (for security reasons)
- Standard uninstall often leaves residual files
You can remove annoying McAfee on Windows 11 or Windows 10 via Windows Settings. This is the standard way to uninstall apps in Windows 11. It removes most McAfee components, but not always everything.
How to uninstall mcafee from Windows 11 permanently
1. Press Win + I → open Settings
2. Go to Apps → Installed apps
3. Find McAfee (Total Protection / LiveSafe, etc.)
4. Click the three dots → Uninstall
5. Follow the on-screen instructions
6. Restart your PC to make the change into effect.
This approach is good for normal cases, but often leaves leftovers, especially services and registry entries.
