How to install Windows 11 on i5-6500 Intel CPU?
I bought an used HP laptop from eBay and ready to install Windows 11 on it. When I booted the laptop from USB clean install, all of sudden it says this PC does not meet the minimal system requirement...

I've installed Windows 11 on a handful of older machines like your i5-6500, and there’s a super simple way around this.
Instead of messing with the registry during setup, try using a tool called Rufus to create your bootable USB. The newer versions have a built-in option to remove the requirement for TPM, Secure Boot, and even the CPU check.
Here’s how I did it:
- Download the latest Rufus (it’s free!).
- Plug in your USB drive, open Rufus, and select your Windows 11 ISO.
- Under “Image option,” choose “Extended Windows 11 installation (no TPM/no Secure Boot/8th-9th Gen CPUs)”.
- Click START and let it do its thing.
- Use that USB to install, and it should glide right past those annoying requirements. No command prompts, no registry edits—just smooth sailing.
Worked perfectly on my friend’s i5-7500! Just keep in mind that while it runs great, you might not get all future updates automatically (though there are easy workarounds for that too)."
