How to fix a slow boot mac and make it run faster in startup?
My MacBook Pro (i7, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD) has started taking a really long time (10 minutes) to boot up and reach the desktop, and I'd like to speed up the startup process. I'm not very technical, ...

Ten minutes is unusually long for an SSD-equipped MacBook Pro. With plenty of free storage, startup software, connected devices or a disk problem are more useful things to check than clearing space.
Start with these steps:
- Back up important files, preferably with Time Machine, before troubleshooting.
- Disconnect accessories such as USB drives, hubs and external monitors, then restart. Note whether the delay happens before the login screen or after entering your password. Login items mainly affect the latter.
- Reduce login items. Open System Settings > General > Login Items and remove unnecessary apps from Open at Login. On older macOS versions, use System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items. When restarting, untick Reopen windows when logging back in.
- Test Safe Mode. Your i7 model is an Intel Mac: restart and immediately hold Shift until the login window appears. Safe Mode itself can take longer to start, so check whether the desktop runs normally, then restart normally and compare.
- Check the disk. Restart while holding Command + R to enter macOS Recovery. Open Disk Utility > View > Show All Devices, then run First Aid on each volume, followed by the container and finally the physical SSD. If it reports errors it cannot repair, avoid erasing anything and arrange further help.
If it still takes ten minutes, shut down, disconnect accessories and turn it on while holding D to run Apple Diagnostics. Keep any reference code it returns. A passing result does not rule out every storage fault, but an error gives you something specific to investigate.
Skip “Mac cleaner” apps and do not delete system files. A delay this long needs its cause identified rather than routine cleanup.
