How to easily trim audio files on Windows 11 PC?

For editing audio files, I personally recommend AudioKis. I'm not a tech geek, but this tool is really easy to use. You just drag the audio file in, select the part you want to edit, and save it. The interface is very intuitive, there are no complicated settings, and no annoying ads.
I follow this tutorial (works for me):

I also had a lot of recordings to edit before, and I tried several tools, but some of them were too troublesome to operate. AudioKis made me think that editing audio can be so simple and worth a try.
Carolynyne My recommendation is Windows Movie Maker. It is a free video editing software developed by Microsoft, included in the Windows Essentials suite. It was designed to allow users to create, edit, and share videos with a simple interface. The software was commonly used for basic video editing tasks like cutting, trimming, adding effects, and exporting videos in different formats.
How to Trim Audio File with Windows Movie Maker:
1. Click on the Add Music button found in the top toolbar. Browse your computer to find and select the audio file you want to trim.
2. Use the trim handles (located at the beginning and end of the audio clip on the timeline) to drag and set the start and end points. Alternatively, you can right-click the audio track and choose Trim to manually set the start and end times.
3. Adjust the sliders to select the portion of the audio you wish to keep.
4. Once you’re satisfied with the trimmed audio, go to File > Save movie. Select Audio only from the list of options and choose the desired audio format (e.g., MP3, WMA). Choose a destination folder and save the trimmed audio file.

Using the Movies & TV app to trim audio files does have some limitations. This method is designed primarily for video files, and audio files are not fully supported, especially if the audio format is not widely supported, you may encounter problems opening or editing. In addition, the editing functions are relatively basic, and if you need to do more sophisticated editing, this tool may not be enough.
In fact, I have encountered similar difficulties when trying to use it to trim audio files before. For example, sometimes the audio files are slow to load, or there are some problems with the sound quality and synchronization after editing. In this case, I usually turn to more professional audio editing software, even if it means installing a third-party application.
If your needs are simple, this method may be enough; but if you need more editing functions, you may still want to consider using dedicated audio editing software.
