How to convert a PSD file to SVG on my Windows 11 laptop?
PSD is a popular image format created by Adobe Photoshop. Basically, you can convert PSD images to SVG using Photoshop or illustrator app.
Part 1: Convert PSD to SVG with Photoshop
While Adobe Photoshop is primarily a raster-based editor, it does offer some capabilities to work with vector elements and export them as SVG. However, this method is best suited for PSD files that primarily contain vector shapes and text.
Step 1: Launch Adobe Photoshop on your Windows computer.
Step 2: Go to File > Open. Select your PSD file and click Open.
Step 3: In the Layers panel, select the vector layer(s) you wish to export. You can select multiple layers by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking on each layer.
Step 4: Go to File > Export > Export As.
Step 5: From the Format dropdown menu, select SVG. Adjust the Scale and Canvas Size if necessary. Ensure that the Convert to sRGB option is selected for color consistency. Click Export All.
Step 6: Choose a destination folder to keep the converted SVG files and file name, then click Save.
Part 2: Convert PSD to SVG with Illustrator
Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics editor that's well-suited for converting PSD files to SVG, especially when dealing with vector elements such as shapes and text.
Step 1: Launch Adobe Illustrator on your Windows computer.
Step 2: Go to File > Open. Navigate to and select your PSD file.
Step 3: In the Import Options dialog box that appears, choose whether to import layers as separate objects.
Step 4: Go to File > Save As. Choose a destination folder. Enter a file name. From the Save as type dropdown, select SVG (*.SVG). Click Save.
Step 5: Open the saved SVG in a web browser or an SVG-compatible application to ensure everything looks as expected.
