When a Windows update like 25H2 makes your system slower and breaks your apps, Do a completely reinstall Windows 11 from USB is often the best solution.
1. Before doing completely reinstall Windows 11 from USB, check if Windows still lets you roll back the easy way:
- Open Settings (Win + I)
- Go to System > Recovery
- Look for the "Go back" button and click it
2. Download an Older Windows 11 ISO
Note: Microsoft typically offers the latest version directly. If you need a specific older build, you may need to: Check the Windows Insider Program for older builds. Use trusted archive sources (verify file integrity with SHA1 checksums)
3. Once your computer boots from the USB:
- Choose your language preferences and click "Install now"
- When asked for a product key, click "I don't have a product key" (your PC will activate automatically later)
- Select the Windows edition matching your license
- Choose "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)" - this is critical for a clean install
- You'll see your drive partitions. Delete each partition on the target drive (usually Drive 0) until you see "Unallocated Space"
- Select the unallocated space and click Next
Windows will now install. Your computer may restart several times - this is normal.
